Coats & jackets

Coat, puffer or bomber: start with the weather

Before thinking about the cut or the colour, ask yourself a simple question: when will you wear it? For in-between seasons, a denim jacket, a sleeveless gilet or a light bomber over a jumper is enough. When the cold sets in, a sherpa-lined jacket or a short coat takes over. For truly cold mornings and long waits on the platform, a puffer jacket or a long coat gives you more coverage.

Many of us end up with two pieces: a light one you throw on without thinking, and a warm one for the depths of winter. It's often the easiest pair to get through the season.

Length, depending on how you move

A short cut, above the hips, keeps your legs free: handy on a bike, a scooter or if you drive a lot. A mid-thigh length protects better from the wind while staying comfortable when seated. A knee-length coat instantly dresses up a simple outfit and covers a dress or a skirt. To get your bearings, compare the length shown on the product page with a piece you already own.

Women, men, kids: coordinated, not identical

At Deeluxe, a Marseille brand since 2004, the women's, men's and kids' collections are designed together, with colours that echo from one range to the next. Couple and family looks therefore match naturally, without wearing the exact same outfit. An easy idea: repeat the same shade in two different fabrics, suede-effect on one side, corduroy on the other.

Suede, corduroy, sherpa, denim: check the fabric before you choose

Looks aren't everything: a wool-effect coat may be made of polyester, for example. The composition and details (lining, hood, high collar, cuffed sleeves) are listed on every product page, and they are what really tell you about warmth and comfort. For care, follow the label, especially for suede-effect and corduroy pieces, which are more delicate to wash.

Your questions

What's the difference between a jacket, a bomber and a coat?

A bomber stops at the waist or hips, often gathered at the hem with ribbing or a drawstring. "Jacket" is a broader term, from the denim jacket to the blazer. A coat falls lower and is worn over your whole outfit when it's cold.

Can I return a coat if it doesn't fit?

Yes, you have 14 days to return an item. All the details are on our returns and refunds page.
